My name is Hennie Zellenrath, and I have a background in teaching and adult education. When I was given the opportunity of applying my professional background within a practical and creative framework, I immediately said yes. That is how I ended up in the ‘hobby world’ and was able to turn my hobby into my work. I started up my own company, Hobby Hennie, and worked together with a hobby wholesale firm – providing product information for new shop owners, information on new hobby items, demonstrations, training sessions and workshops throughout the Netherlands. I also write articles for a great many hobby magazines as well as hobby books for Dutch and German hobbyists. My years of work in this field have given me the opportunity to meet and develop close relationships with a great many people, due to the shared pleasure and enthusiasm involved in our creative activities. As of 1 January 2007, I stopped running my own company and became a full-time creative designer for Peel-Off’s: a fantastic position to be in!
I often find inspiration for designs in home and garden decoration trends, TV programmes / films, and seasonal themes. This allows me to take advantage of current themes and to design attractive and trendy Peel-Off’s. Based on these designs, I then make examples of cards and decorations, which are published in various hobby magazines and presented in the Step for Step projects on the website. That closes the circle again and makes it possible for me to reach a great many creative people and to hopefully inspire and assist them in their creative activities!
